This anomaly from Sol 748 appears to show two humanoid figures locked in an embrace. One figure—possibly female—has long flowing hair and pointed ears, evoking the image of an elf. The other stands close, with a hand resting near her head, as if in a moment of connection or comfort. Both figures seem to have brown-toned skin and sculpted features. Whether illusion, artifact, or encounter, this one feels intimate—like Mars revealing a moment of tenderness frozen in stone.

Captured near the Kimberley formation in Gale Crater, this region is known for its finely layered sedimentary rocks and elevated hematite concentrations—signs of ancient water activity. Curiosity was actively studying cross-bedded sandstone and clay-rich outcrops during this phase of its traverse, making this area one of the most geologically diverse zones in the early mission.
